Gratitude, it’s a mindset.
I was recently on holiday with my family. We are not over-planners because we like the spontaneity of exploring a new city and stumbling upon a welcoming meal. We entered the seemingly charming restaurant and approached the host.
“Hello, we are a party of 4 and just wanted to see if you had any availability?” -we asked.
And being that we tend to be bar flies…
“We are also good with sitting at the bar.” – we added.
The host responded-
“Well that’s not good for me, we do not have any availability and the bar is reserved.”
Conversely, I was traveling for work last week and visited my hotel restaurant for dinner.
I snagged a seat at the bar with all the other working individuals on their laptops.
The bar was slammed and the lone bartender, Chris, was handling the volume with grace or shall I say, Gratitude.
18 specialty drink orders came in at once along with food orders and he elegantly executed each order one by one and utilized his team for support.
He along with the team still took the time to engage with me and each of my working bar flies to ensure quality and service and even showcase a little fun.
Two very different approaches to the hustle and bustle.
In a time where every customer impression counts, gratitude communicates-
Thank you for the work.
Thank you for the business.
